Great Basin National Park, first established in 1822, is located in Nevada and is home to some of the nation’s oldest trees – Bristlecone Pine Trees. The Great Basin extends from California’s Sierra Nevada to Utah’s Wasatch Range and from Southern Oregon to southern Nevada. It was named so by explorer John C. Fremont in the mid-1800’s. The Nevada portion of the Great Basin National Park includes the Lehman Caves, Wheeler Peak and a variety of historic resources, structures, and sites dating back as early as prehistoric times.
