- Released on 2/6/2017.
- The obverse shows a slightly modified version of the original Washington Quarter. The mint moved some of the wording previously found on the reverse to the obverse in order to make more room for the reverse design for each state. You'll find "United States of America," "In God We Trust," "Liberty," and "Quarter Dollar" all spelled out on the obverse of the quarter as well as the coin's mint mark.
- The reverse depicts an aerial view of the effigy mounds in the Marching Bear Group.
- The 5 National Parks Released in 2017 were Effigy Mounds National Monument in Iowa, Frederick Douglass National Historic Site in Washington D.C., Ozark National Scenic Riverways in Missouri, Ellis Island (Statue of Liberty National Monument) in New Jersey and George Rogers Clark National Historical Park in Indiana.
- Sovereign coin minted at the U.S. Mint and backed by the United States government with a face value of $0.25.
This park protects the largest concentration in the United States of ancient Native American earthworks. The park has 206 mounds with 31 of them being effigies (or mounds shaped like animals or birds). The Visitor Center is located in Harper's Ferry, IA.
