1942 would be the final year the mint would produce proof coins for collectors until production started again in 1950. A total of 6 different coins would be released to collectors this year, as the mint would strike Jefferson Nickels made up of 2 different compositions; the standard nickel composition that had been used since 1938, as well as one composed of 35% Silver as well. This Silver "War Nickel" carries a "P" mint mark as well.
