PRODUCT DETAILS:

2020 Weir Farm National Historic Site Quarter - P or D Mint - (UNC) Brilliant Uncirculated

ROLL HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Released on 4/6/2020.
  • The obverse shows a slightly modified version of the original Washington Quarter. The mint moved some of the wording previously found on the reverse to the obverse in order to make more room for the reverse design for each state. You'll find "United States of America," "In God We Trust," "Liberty," and "Quarter Dollar" all spelled out on the obverse of the quarter as well as the coin's mint mark.
  • The reverse shows an artist working at a blank canvas with his paint palette and brush in hand. He is on a grassy hillside with some trees and a small building seen at the top, Julian Alden Weir's studio. Other details of the reverse include the inscriptions "WEIR FARM," “CONNECTICUT,” “2020” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
  • The 5 National Parks scheduled for release in 2020 are National Park of American Samoa in American Samoa, Weird Farm National Historical Site in Connecticut, Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Marsh-Billings Rockefeller National Historical Park in Vermont, and Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in Kansas.
  • Sovereign coins minted at the U.S. Mint and backed by the United States government, each with a face value of $0.25.
  • All coins ship in 2x2 plastic coin flips. Orders of 40 or more may ship in tubes.

Select either 'P' - Philadelphia Mint, or 'D' - Denver Mint from the drop-down options menu located above.

Julian Alden Weir was an American painter, born in August of 1852 and was known as the Father of American Impressionism. He purchased a 153 acre farm in Branchville, CT - for a painting and $10.00 - in 1882. The main house became his residence for 36 years and he also built an art studio on the property. Today Weir Studio, along with Weir House, Young Studio, and Burlingham House can all be found within the 60 acre National Historic Site. While exploring Weir Farm, you will also find some lovely restored gardens, including a "secret garden," as well as a pond built by Weir and some hiking trails within the Weir Preserve. The beautiful landscape of the farm stood as inspiration for many of Weir's works and many other painters and artists over time.
