PRODUCT DETAILS:

2009 Northern Mariana Islands Territory Quarter Coin - P or D Mint - (UNC) Brilliant Uncirculated

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Released on 11/30/2009.
  • The obverse shows a slightly modified version of the original Washington Quarter. The mint moved some of the wording previously found on the reverse to the obverse in order to make more room for the reverse design for each state. You'll find "United States of America," "In God We Trust," "Liberty," and "Quarter Dollar" all spelled out on the obverse of the quarter as well as the coin's mint mark.
  • The reverse of the Northern Mariana Islands Territory quarter shows a large limestone latte on the shoreline, two birds known as white fairy terns flying overhead, along with some palm trees in the background.
  • The 6 quarters released in 2009 were the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
  • Sovereign coin minted at the U.S. Mint and backed by the United States government with a face value of $0.25.

The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), is a commonwealth in political union with the United States, occupying a strategic region of the western Pacific Ocean. It consists of fourteen islands about three-quarters of the way from Hawaii to the Philippines. The United States reports the total land area of all islands as about 183 square miles.

The Northern Mariana Islands have a population of about 54,000  according to a 2010 census count. Only three of the fourteen islands, Saipan, Tinian, and Rota have a significant population. The islands of Agrihan and Alamagan have fewer than ten residents, and the remaining ten islands are largely unpopulated.

Select either 'P' - Philadelphia Mint, or 'D' - Denver Mint from the drop-down options menu located above.

All coins come in protective plastic. Orders of 40 or more may ship in plastic quarter tubes.
