In 1986, the United States Mint began the American Eagle program. Since that inaugural year, with the exception of 2009, the U.S. Mint has released a Silver Proof version of the coin. In 2013, they issued a special 2 coin Silver Eagle set in honor of the 75th anniversary of the West Point Mint. It featured two Silver Eagles; a Proof version and a special Enhanced Uncirculated version. Both coins were appropriately minted at the West Point Mint.
