PRODUCT DETAILS:

2018 Apostle Islands Quarter Coin - S Mint - (UNC) Brilliant Uncirculated

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Released on 4/9/2018.
  • The obverse shows a slightly modified version of the original Washington Quarter. The mint moved some of the wording previously found on the reverse to the obverse in order to make more room for the reverse design for each state. You'll find "United States of America, In God We Trust, Liberty," and "Quarter Dollar" all spelled out on the obverse of the quarter as well as the coin's mint mark.
  • Featured on the reverse is a scene of sea caves along the shoreline of Devil's Island as well, as a kayaker navigating the water and a lighthouse atop rocks in the distance. Devil's Island is one of the 22 Apostle Islands within the national lake shore park.
  • The 5 National Parks Released in 2018 were Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan, Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Wisconsin, Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota, Cumberland Island Seashore in Georgia, and Block Island National Wildlife Refuge in Rhode Island.
  • Sovereign coins minted at the San Francisco Branch of the U.S. Mint and backed by the United States government, each with a face value of $0.25. The America the Beautiful Quarter Program began in 2010, but Uncirculated Quarters were not minted at San Francisco until 2012.

Located on the shore of Lake Superior in Michigan, Apostle Islands National Lakeshore was established in 1966. It is known for its colorful sandstone cliffs along 42 miles of shoreline. The naturally sculpted cliffs along the waters edge are home to shallow caves, archways, cliffs, and waterfalls. Well known areas of interest in the park visitors may find are Munising Falls, Miners River, Chapel Falls/Rock, Shipwrecks, and Grand Sable Dunes, just to name a few. Popular methods of exploring the park include snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing in the winter and hiking, camping and sea kayaking in warmer weather.

All coins come in protective plastic. Orders of 40 or more may ship in tubes.
