PRODUCT DETAILS:

1963B $1.00 Federal Reserve Barr Note - 2 Consecutive Serial Numbers - Crisp Uncirculated

NOTE HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Crisp Uncirculated condition.
  • Lot consists of two consecutive serial number notes.
  • The obverse features a portrait of George Washington.
  • Although these notes are not necessarily rare (hundreds of millions were made) they are collectible due to the fact that they were signed by Secretary of the Treasury Joseph W. Barr.  Barr was appointed by President Lyndon B. Johnson during the final days of his administration on December 20, 1968 when the former Treasury Secretary Henry H. Fowler resigned. Barr served until January 20, 1969 when President Nixon was inaugurated and appointed his own Secretary. This marks the shortest tenure in the history of the United States Treasury.
