The Trustees' Garden was planted in the 1734 on ten acres of land within the Colony of Georgia after being sanctioned by England. It was an experimental garden to determine what crops would fair well in the Southern climate. It was this garden that gave way to the immense growth of Cotton and Peaches that the South is known for agriculturally. Being its location was along the river and a prime military defensive site, forts were also built and used through the Civil War. Post war the buildings were used for housing and neighborhoods formed. However, in the 1900's the site became home to Kehoe Ironworks and later, Savannah Gas Light Company. The buildings and area were restored in the early 2000's and now serve as a celebration of history and culture, a place to hold events related to the arts and wellness, and to serve the community.
The American Innovation Dollar Coin Series replaced the Presidential Dollar Coin Program and will run through 2032 allowing for one issue from each state. After all the states have been issued, coins recognizing the District of Columbia and each U.S. Territory will be issued.
