Thomas Alva Edison's most famous invention is arguably, the light bulb. It revolutionized electric power allowing light into homes and businesses during non standard daylight hours above and beyond that of what was currently being used. In the late 1800's, Edison established a testing and research development lab in New jersey and worked with a team to invent the first safe and inexpensive electric light to replace the only option at the time, the gas light. The invention of the incandescent electric light led to the opening of the Edison Electric Light Company and later, the use of electricity and utility companies across the nation.

The American Innovation Dollar Coin Series replaced the Presidential Dollar Coin Program and will run through 2032 allowing for one issue from each state. After all the states have been issued, coins recognizing the District of Columbia and each U.S. Territory will be issued.
