Annie Jump Cannon was an American Astronomer born in Delaware in 1963. Cannon is said to have catalogued and classified more stars in her lifetime than anyone else. She was acknowledged as being able to do the work quicker, and more accurately, than any of her colleagues. The stellar classification system she pioneered is still being used by astronomy students today. The American Astronomical Society also gifts the Annie Jump Cannon Award to females who have made significant contributions to astronomy or similar science and are pursuing their Ph.D.
The American Innovation Dollar Coin Series replaced the Presidential Dollar Coin Program and will run through 2032 allowing for one issue from each state. After all the states have been issued, coins recognizing the District of Columbia and each U.S. Territory will be issued.
