40 Coin Liberty Nickel Rolls - Mixed Dates - Low Grade/Cull Condition

ROLL HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Each roll contains 40 coins.
  • All coins are in "cull" or low grade condition.
  • Though all of these coins will have readable dates, they can have scratches, nicks, dents, pits or corrosion. They can also be slightly bent or have excessive wear. We will not however include coins with holes in them.
  • Dates will be mixed as they come from our stock and will usually run from the late 1890's on, though it is not unusual to find an earlier example here and there.

These rolls consist of Liberty Nickels which don't make the problem-free Good or better grade. Liberty, or "V" Nickels were issued from 1883 to 1912. It was a series not without controversy. The first coins issued did not have the word "CENTS" on them, just a large Roman numeral 'V'. Some unscrupulous individuals got the idea to gold plate the coins and then pass them off as $5.00 gold pieces! These "racketeer" nickels can still be found today. Though no 1913 liberty nickels were officially issued, somehow five left the mint. These rarities were highly prized right from the start, with offers to pay several hundred dollars (a huge sum in those days) for a one of these specimens, but it would still usually yield no results!

  • Ugly dirty coins! Received coins in zip-lock bag not in container as displayed in photo. Low grade coins for sure. All 1900's duplicate dates and three 1800's(two same year). Don't think I will buy again.
  • Expectations met
