PRODUCT DETAILS:

2020-P 5 oz Burnished National Park of American Samoa ATB Silver Coin

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Contains 5 oz of .999 fine Silver.
  • The coin comes encapsulated inside of its government issued packaging, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • The obverse features a portrait of George Washington along with the inscriptions "United States of America," "Liberty," "In God We Trust" and "Quarter Dollar."
  • The reverse shows a close up of a female fruit bat with her young hanging from a fruit tree. Other details of the reverse include the inscriptions "NATIONAL PARK," “AMERICAN SAMOA,” “2020” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
  • The 5 ATB National Parks being released in 2020 are: National Park of American Samoa in the American Samoa, Weir Farm National Historic Site in Connecticut, Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve in Virginia, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park in Vermont, and the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in Kansas.
  • These large 5 ounce coins are guaranteed by the U.S. Mint mint and have a diameter of 3 inches!

The U.S. Territory of American Samoa consists of five main islands and two coral atolls. The National Park of American Samoa however, spans across 3 of the 5 islands. It is the only U.S. National Park to exist below the equator and consists of land, ocean waters and coral reefs. The animal featured on the 5 ounce Silver coin, the Samoan Fruit Bat, can be seen all around the island. Often times tourists can view them hanging from trees, flying around or feeding on fruit in the day or night as unlike many other bats, they are both nocturnal and diurnal. If you visit the park in the late Spring or Summer, you will probably see young pups still attached to their mothers, just as is pictured on the reverse of the coin.
