PRODUCT DETAILS:

1880-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coin - Reverse of 1878 Variety - Brilliant UNC Condition

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • This is a very popular and scarce Morgan Dollar Carson City variety!
  • The obverse features George T. Morgan's famous design. It shows Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap with the word "Liberty" spelled out on her hair band. Bordering the rim of the coin are the words "E Pluribus Unum," the coin's date of issue and 13 stars, 1 to represent each of the original 13 colonies.
  • The reverse design shows a bald eagle clutching onto an olive branch in one claw and a group of arrows in the other. Above the eagle's head are the words "In God We Trust." Surrounding the coin's edge are the words "United States of America" and "One Dollar."
  • Contains .7734 oz of 90% Silver.
  • All coins grade MS-60 or higher!

Most 1880-CC Morgan Silver Dollars were struck with the eagle on the coin's reverse featuring a convex breast and the top arrow feather being slanted, while the others remained parallel to the rest. In 1879, the design was changed from the original 1878 design, to feature a slanted top arrow feather, and a more convex breast. Some of the 1880-CC issues however were struck with the reverse design from 1878, where the eagle's breast is more concave and all the arrow's feathers remained parallel, and they are quite scarce!

The Morgan Silver Dollar is the world's most popular Silver Dollar. They are cherished by both investors and collectors alike not just for their historical appeal, but also because so many were minted over the years and entered into circulation, that those years with lower mintages or higher graded specimens can be very valuable!

  • Received another beautiful coin. I have purchased over 80 BU uncirculated Morgan's from MP and all of them have been really nice BU uncirculated but I would have to say this one is exceptional!!! This one has to be Choice condition. Thanks MP.
