Looking to stack some silver that has some nostalgia and Americana attached to it? Then look no further! The Icons of Route 66 Silver Shields Series will take you on a trip through 8 states from Illinois to California. Whether you've traveled along Rt. 66 yourself, or have just heard stories and watched television shows, they're sure to add some history and American culture to your collection!

While driving the famous highway, known as Main Street of America, you'll want to stop and bring your camera to this stop in Texas.  Visible from the interstate, Cadillac Ranch is just that - a group of Cadillac cars in the form of an art installation - but it's worth the drive to see it up close. Driving along Route 66 (currently Interstate Route 40) from Oklahoma, you'll cross the border into Texas in about 2.5 hours. If you keep traveling the route, in about another 2 hours you'll enter the city of Amarillo, TX. Just outside the city, the interstate opens up into fields instead of city streets. Just off exit 60, you'll find yourself pulling over and entering through an open gate on the side of the interstate. Walking down this dirt path will bring you to Cadillac Ranch!

Originally installed in 1974, it was moved to its current location in 1997 (about 2 miles away). An art group known as The Ant Farm came up with the idea and it was funded by and set on lands owned by Amarillo billionaire, Stanley March III, who passed away in 2014. At the end of the dirt path you'll find ten Cadillac cars buried nose first with their tail ends up in the air. Touted as an interactive attraction, it is free to view and adding to the graffiti on the cars is actually encouraged. Over time, the cars have been painted on various occasions to honor deaths (like Marsh's wife or an Ant Farm member) or special occasions (like rainbow colors for Gay Pride Day). The cars have also been restored to their original colors from time to time but the new paint jobs do not last long before they are taken over by new creativity spouting from the end of a spray can. The cars themselves represent the timeline of the Cadillac from 1949-1963 and show the transformation of their tailfins over time. If you're taking the trip, it's a must see on Route 66!
