Kansas Rainbow Arch Bridge release is the third in a series of eight. Subsequent releases will represent stops along the famous highway, known as Main Street of America. They will include tourist attractions in Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, and end with the last state on the route, California.

Driving along Route 66 in Kansas travelers would cross over three Marsh Rainbow Arch style bridges, but the Brush Creek Bridge is the only one that currently remains. The other two were the Spring River and Willow Creek bridges and were dismantled in the 1990's. Rainbow Arch bridges are well known landmarks all across Kansas. The Brush Creek Bridge, commonly referred to as the Rainbow Bridge, is still passable today via a one way road. A newer two lane bridge was built down the road around 1992 to accommodate increasing local traffic. The famous bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1983 along with 10 others of the same architecture. The Marsh Arch style bridge was popular in the early 1900's, and were built in Kansas between 1917 and 1934. Invented by James Barney Marsh, they were built not only for their unique and sturdy architecture, but the appealing and graceful arch design as well. Out of 70 Rainbow Arch Bridges throughout the Midwest, only about 35 remain. Today, Rainbow Bridge is a popular spot for community events including concerts, picnics and weddings.
